I was interested in reading about this proposed development in Bradford Today. I have to admit that I had given up hope that Bradford will be able to remain untouched by overdevelopment and have not been paying too much attention to announcements etc. Fairly soon, I fear, Bradford will be another Vaughan !

In this case, however, I see that this developer has no issues about encroaching on floodlands. They bought this property knowing the zoning and yet they seem to think they can bully their way to a new subdivision. What I would like to see is council send a clear message to developers that we value our wetlands and farmland and do not want houses everywhere. If Bradford is under some "intensification" obligation, developers should be encouraged to look downtown. I believe there is room there for some very nice low rise condo developments which would increase density and perhaps breath some life into that area. (see downtown Aurora, for example).

The reason I am writing to all of you, is that the news article mentioned that you each questioned some aspect of the plans. I just want to encourage you to continue to be firm with developers and not let them steamroll you. Our open spaces are too important for the future and for the future of our children !
