266 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Ontario today

Recoveries are still climbing faster than new cases, and there are 351 new recoveries noted in today's report

Ontario's daily report of COVID-19 cases is up by 46 per cent today over yesterday with 266 new cases listed in the June 13 update. 

Public Health Ontario reported 182 cases yesterday, which was the lowest increase on record since March 28. 

Recoveries are still climbing faster than new cases, though, with 351 new recoveries noted in today's update. 

Nine new deaths have been reported, including one person between the ages of 40 and 59, and eight people over the age of 80. 

Public Health Ontario has reported 1,610 deaths of residents in long-term care facilities. The Ministry of Long-Term care has reported 1,786 deaths of residents in long-term care facilities as a result of COVID-19. 

According to the ministry's report there are 63 active outbreaks and 240 resolved outbreaks at long-term care homes in the province, and those include 529 active cases in residents and 503 active cases in staff. 

The province has confirmed 31,992 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario this year. Of those, public health agencies have declared 26,538 cases as recovered, and there have been 2,507 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. There are currently 2,947 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 489 people who are hospitalized with 110 patients in intensive care and 68 patients on ventilators. 

Testing has stayed around the 20,000 mark for most of the week with 27,456 tests processed since yesterday's report from Public Health Ontario. 

As of yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 513 cases with 436 (85 per cent) now recovered. 

There have been 36 deaths in the region (35 in Simcoe County) and there are currently six people in hospital with COVID-19. 

There are 41 active cases of the coronavirus in the region, one of which is in Muskoka and the rest are in Simcoe County.
