INNISFIL - A multi-agency Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Blitz was conducted on May 15, 2018 on Innisfil and Barrie. The blitz ran from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. using parking lots at Georgian Downs and the Barrie Molson Centre.

The initiative was carried out by the Simcoe County Policing Authority which includes South Simcoe Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Barrie Police Service, Rama Police Service, The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, Simcoe County Health Unit and the Ontario College of Trades.

A total of 62 vehicles were inspected:

30 vehicles were taken out of service for mechanical or other related issues
***48 per cent out of service rating***
62 charges were laid
one driver was charged with impaired operation in Innisfil (non CMV)
25 cautions

Health Unit/Tobacco Enforcement

15 Inspections
14 warnings for not posting no smoking signs
3 packs of untaxed tobacco forfeited and education / warning for TTA provided
1 charge to company for ‘Failure of employer to ensure compliance with section,'section 9(3)(a)
2 charges to individuals for ‘Smoke tobacco in enclosed workplace’ section 9(1)
