The Bradford Farmers’ Market will be returning for a new season Saturday with its grand opening. This year will mark its 16th anniversary as a stalwart in the community.
The market will run every Saturday from May 20 to Oct. 7 this year in the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library parking lot (425 Holland St. W.) starting at 9 a.m. and going until 1 p.m.
With it being opening day, the first 50 customers who visit the market tent this Saturday will receive a free seedling donated by Springh Farms.
Market days feature live music, fresh local food, activities, and monthly events; this year the market is set to have 19 vendors. The products being sold range from local produce to specialized foods to homemade honey.
It will be market manager Alexa Paulos’ second season running the market after she took over for long-time market manager Laura Vree.
“The Bradford Farmers’ Market is a place where we can gather, support one another, and get to know each other better,” said Paulos. "I hope it will continue to be a destination for families throughout the whole season and for many years to come.”
With the return of the market in full force last season coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, Paulos was ecstatic about the support it received from the community.
“I’m happy we could have everyone together again after COVID. It’s amazing to see so many people support all the local talent we have here,” she said.
The goal of the market is to provide Bradford residents and those from surrounding areas a chance to access locally crafted products to support community-based small businesses while promoting healthy local living.
The market is registered with Farmers’ Market Ontario and the markets’ producers grow their own products. Most vendors accept cash, credit, and debit.
