Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association cleans up 5th Sideroad

'We feel very proud to serve the community, and love to take every opportunity we can to give back to society'

On Sept. 1, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association Bradford ventured to 5th Sideroad for one of their regular highway cleanups.

Around 16 volunteers gathered and cleaned up the garbage on the road from Line 12 to Highway 89. The garbage was collected in black bags and was left on the sides of the road for the town to pick up.

The Association adopted a portion of local 5th Side Road and hosts clean-ups a few times every year. The program has been established as a public service program for volunteers to enhance the local litter collection activities by picking up litter along County road rights-of-way. It is a way for environmentally conscious groups and individuals to contribute to a cleaner and more beautiful county road system.

"Islam teaches us that cleanliness is a part of our faith", said the Association's press secretary, Madiha Majoka, "And being environmentally friendly is a great example of such. We feel very proud to serve the community, and love to take every opportunity we can to give back to society."
