Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association donates 450 pounds of food to Helping Hand Food Bank (10 photos)

'It will be our pleasure to contribute to our community in every possible and we will make every effort to serve our community moving forward,' says association member

The Bradford chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association is celebrating Ramadhan this month, a special time of year for Muslims to renew and rejuvenate their faith.

"In this holy month of Ramadan, while we fast and remember the blessings of God Almighty upon us; we are also pleased to serve our community to express love, and compassion," says association member Madiha Wahla.  "I believe that it is our responsibility to alleviate the pain and suffering of other people, not just during celebrations, but throughout the year. we must identify the needs and pains of others and be driven by compassion to help them as if they were our own beloved family going through that suffering."

Last month, members of the Bradford chapter donated 450 pounds of food to the Helping Hand Food Bank in Bradford and 850 pounds of food to the Tottenham Food Bank.

"It will be our pleasure to contribute to our community in every possible and we will make every effort to serve our community moving forward," said Wahla. "We plan on continuing and increasing our donations, and to serve meals and to show more kindness and compassion towards each other and our community."

The association says those affected by last month's fire at 114 Holland St. West are in their thoughts and prayers.

"We hope they return safely to their homes, and we cannot wait to welcome them back."
