Back to school backpack giveaway this Sunday at the Bradford library

Kids are invited to come by the library to receive a backpack packed with school supplies.

Greater Life Community Church knows that sometimes financial constraints can make the start of the new school year a stressful time.

Families need to purchase new school clothes, backpacks and expensive school supplies; on a limited budget, it can be a burden.

That’s why Greater Life Community Church, as part of its community outreach, is hosting its third annual Back to School Giveaway.

“At Greater Life, we are focused on finding ways to give back to the community so we can live out the mandate and mission of the gospel,” explained Pastor Eaton Hope Grant. “We want people to experience God, affect change and fulfill purpose – and we believe giving back and blessing those around us will accomplish that.”

This Sunday, Aug. 25, starting at noon, Greater Life and its volunteers will be giving away free backpacks stuffed with supplies, at the BWG Public Library & Cultural Centre at 425 Holland St. W. in Bradford. The first 100 kids who come out will receive the free gift.

The backpacks are geared towards kids ages 4 to 11. In addition to the give-away there will be hot dogs and crafts for the kids.

The church is still looking for financial donations to support its annual outreach. Community members interested in supporting the Back to School Giveaway can call 647-718-7849, or click here.

Greater Life Community Church regularly holds its Sunday services at the library – a Children’s Church at 10:40 a.m., and an Empowerment Service at 10:30 a.m., every Sunday.

The Church also meets for prayer and bible study, Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Presbyterian on SR.10.
