Last month the Bradford Board of Trade (BBT) hosted its fall Open For Business golf tournament at Bradford Highlands, with half the proceeds from the 50/50 draw prize going to the Helping Hand Food Bank, for a total of $330.

The other half of the winnings went to Bradford Food Bank volunteer Bill Jermyn, who took part in the tournament.

In addition to the BBT's donation, brothers and business partners, Michael and Tony Gutta of Addictive Design decided to first generously match the BBT's donation, and then double it.

The pair stopped by the food bank on Friday afternoon with a large-sized cheque made out to the food bank in the amount of $660.

"We bumped it up a bit to the full $660, it worked out with Thanksgiving," said Michael.

Foodbank Vice President Cyndie Pasquarella was grateful for the donations from both the BBT and Addictive Design.

Over the past month, the food bank has lost two freezers and a fridge due to age and lost $1,000 in meat.

"So we handed out a lot of food rescue meat last week which is good," said Pasquarella.

One new freezer is coming to the food bank next week.

The BBT also donated $260 to the food bank in August from their summer golf tournament.
