Bradford Board of Trade swing into action at annual golf tournaments

That's a wrap for this year's BBT's Open for Business golf tournaments

The Bradford Board of Trade (BBT) encouraged members and local business owners to "swing" into action this summer at the Open for Business golf tournaments held in August and September of this year at the Bradford Highlands Golf Course.

“The BBT did an excellent job putting on such a fun-filled day even with the impending closing of the Highlands,” expressed Tyler Tossounian, BBT member and owner of the Bradford Academy of Music.

Tyler and his father, Haig Tossounian, played both tournaments and says they had an "amazing experience".

“All I saw was smiling faces all day,” he shared.

Sponsors for the most recent golf tournament last Friday include Crozier Consulting Engineers, Ryan’s Landscaping, Holland Gardens Retirement Residence, BradfordToday, and the Town of West Gwillimbury.

This year, Mother Nature came through with perfect sunshine which could possibly be credited to the tournament's "Weather Sponsor", The Elden of Bradford.

A 50/50 draw was held during the golf tournament which raised $660. Half of the funds are being donated to the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank. Bradford business and BBT member Addictive Design generously matched the donation, providing the food bank with a total of $660 from the second tournament.

“We cannot thank you all and Team Addictive Design enough,” expressed Tricia Barett-Buttler, CAO with the Bradford Board of Trade who helped organize and promote the events.

Various golf challenges were posed throughout the golf course, including a putting contest, closest to the pin, and a pink ball challenge.

Prizes were donated from several local businesses including a Game Night package from Scaraoke Entertainment who offered,  a BBQ grilling set from TA Appliance, a one-month advertising package from Eye Candy Ads, a curved Samsung monitor from Addictive Design, and a $100 gift certificate to the Beer Store sponsored by Ryan’s Landscaping who also participated and helped organized the tournaments.

The winning golf team was a three-way tie and by a random draw. The winner of the BBT Open for Business Golf Tournament II was Team Bradford Academy of Music. The team received a $25 gift certificate for each golfer from ‘Vintages’ (donated by BBT Director Ryan Charron from Sun Life Financial).

"All of us at the BBT are thrilled to see so many members of the community come out and support the two golf tournaments this year," expressed Tina Martins-Morrison, president, Bradford Board of Trade. "As an organization, we use the tournaments to further our mandate to be advocates for local businesses and we know that residents and business owners alike have been missing coming together and enjoying events. This community is a close, tight-knit one and we are so proud of these opportunities for people to reconnect with each other."

The BBT recently launched a new campaign to help local businesses recover from the Covid-19 lockdowns, called Shop Local BWG. Residents are encouraged to post a photo of any product, food, or service purchased in the Town of Bradford on either Facebook or Instagram with the #shoplocalbwg. Tag the business and the Bradford Board of Trade in your post for an automatic entry into a weekly draw for a $100 gift certificate from any business within BWG (winner’s choice!) All three tags must be present for a chance to win. Draws will be held every Friday. No businesses are required to sign up for this contest.
