Members of Bradford West Gwillimbury council recently attended an open art lesson at Universal Learning Academy in Bradford.

Mayor Rob Keffer, Deputy Mayor James Leduc, and councillors Raj Sandhu, Peter Dykie Jr. and Gary Lamb attended the session and met with the academy’s advanced group of young artists.

One of them, Natalie Barkan, became the youngest participant in BWG Art Contest and received a certificate of achievement.

Julia Naris, owner of Universal Learning Academy, encouraged the guests to partake in the art lesson under the supervision of Daria Iezhachenko, art teacher extraordinaire.

Coun. Sandhu stepped up to the challenge and completed a one-of-a-kind painting — a real masterpiece!

The rest of BWG council engaged in a lively conversation, while feasting on delicious stuffed crepes, generously provided by Bradford Deli and its owners, Rita and Alex Neyhaus.

Everyone had a great time, especially the art students, who demonstrated their skills to council with a great sense of pride!
