Bradford Farmers' Market gets fresh (6 photos)

This week's market featured the first sweet corn of the season in addition to a wide range of local produce

Clarinetist Sean Derraugh entertained as shoppers at the weeklly Bradford Farmers’ Market picked up their farm-fresh eggs, local honey, Everything Maple & More dips and BBQ sauces, natural meats from Thor Farms, European smoked meats, fresh breads and pies and other local farm-fresh fare.

Lettuces, kale, onions and beets from the Holland Marsh were available alongside locally-grown cucumbers and tomatoes, the first sweet corn of the season (from southwestern Ontario in addition to fresh blueberries, raspberries and peaches.

The Bradford Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday morning, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., outside the Bradford Library at 425 Holland St. W. – rain or shine.

Besides vendors, each week the market offers children’s crafts and live entertainment. Bluesboy Nicky will be playing Aug. 10, musical guest Tom Kremer on Aug. 17, and special guests, the Neema Children’s Choir from Uganda, on Aug. 31.

And mark your calendars: Aug. 24 is Bradford West Gwillimbury’s Peach Festival featuring ‘Elvis’ (entertainer Russ Clayton, in his Elvis avatar), and guest artisans.
