Bradford Hustlers host Thanksgiving food drive

'Hustlers believe in supporting our town and helping those in need,' says founder of fitness group

The Bradford Hustlers stopped by the Helping Hand Food Bank this week to drop off boxes of non-pesishable food items collected in their annual Thanksgiving food drive.

"This is our second year doing it, and we are making it a tradition," said group founder Laura Banchon. "Hustlers believe in supporting our town and helping those in need."

The Hustlers are a group of local women dedicated to fitness and health and work out together regularly throughout town. The group was started in June 2020 by Banchon and her friends, Mariam Qureshi and Ketty Galleto.

As the group began to grow, the Hustlers started increasing their walks and exploring trails in nearby areas, including Mono, Caledon, and Tottenham, and walking trails like the Nokiidaa Trail in Holland Landing and Kortright in Woodbridge.

The ladies consider themselves to be not just a fitness group, but a support group for one another to keep healthy physically and emotionally.

This October they are organizing a Weight Loss Challenge, "to keep the momentum of our healthy living journey", says Banchon.

The challenge starts on Oct. 17 and runs until Jan. 8.

Participants will weigh in every two weeks, with results tallied based on the percentage of weight loss.

The entry fee is $25, with funds being distributed to the top three winners. First place will receive half the pot, and second and third place winners will each receive 25 per cent.
