A Bradford West Gwillimbury resident got the perfect surprise just in time for Thanksgiving — a free turkey dinner with all the fixings, courtesy of the local No Frills.
Nicole Kim entered a draw on Facebook and was shocked to learn Friday she had won out of roughly 400 entries.
“We had a very small meal for us (planned). I wasn’t even going to get a turkey this year,” she said. “It was very humbling. I was a little teary eyed.”
Kim said the staff at Peter Reali’s No Frills is “like a family” and was so kind and hugged her when she arrived to pick up her winnings. She was given a list of items and told to pick out exactly what she wanted for her Thanksgiving dinner.
She took home a number of items, including a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, crescent rolls, pumpkin pie, and a pumpkin for her son.
“This was a really nice surprise. (Now I can) sit down with our family and just enjoy,” she said.
