The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) announced its intention to proceed with a one day strike on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

If this strike proceeds as planned, all Catholic elementary and secondary schools in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) will be closed for student learning.

OSSTF represents educational assistants, designated early childhood educators, office and clerical and maintenance staff at the SMCDSB.

In the absence of educational support workers the Board cannot ensure a safe learning environment for students. This closure would also include the cancellation of busses as well as before and after care at any of our school locations.

Negotiations are scheduled throughout the weekend and into early next week and the Board continues to be hopeful that this one day strike can be averted. More information will be provided to families as it becomes available and updates can be found at www.smcdsb.on.ca.
