Churros and Chimichangas for a good cause

Hacienda Santa Teresa Mexican restaurant in the downtown core will be donating proceeds from select menu items to A Bradford Christmas fundraiser

From now until Dec.15, Hacienda Santa Teresa Restaurant is donating the proceeds from select menu items towards A Bradford Christmas holiday hamper fundraiser.

For the past week, the Mexican restaurant has been donating the sales from chimichangas and churros to A Bradford Christmas’ fundraiser which is on a mission to raise $50K by Dec.15.

The owners of Hacienda also created a festive drink called ‘A Bradford Christmas’ to help boost the donation sales. The drink incorporates cranberry and lime juice, hibiscus, triple sec, and vodka, topped with homemade whip cream and served in a martini glass.

“The drink resembles an upside-down Santa hat, ” shares Ricardo, Hacienda’s bartender who invented the tasty beverage. “We can also make it non-alcoholic as well.”

The family owned restaurant can currently accommodate up to 50 people (due to Covid restrictions) and features live entertainment every Friday and Saturday.

“We are very happy to help these girls out, especially during these difficult times,” expresses Norma Velazquez, part owner and ‘mother’ of the Velazquez family.

Juan Velazquez (Norma’s son and owner of Hacienda) states that under normal circumstances the restaurant would be packed with reservations right now, but due to being in the “orange” they have had to reduce their capacity to half.

Despite the restrictions, the restaurant saw many happy patrons enjoying their dinner and drinks over the weekend and leaving with full bellies.

A Bradford Christmas organizers Emily & Sarah Dahlgren were given an opportunity to speak at the restaurant on Friday evening about their fundraising efforts. They plan to make another appearance at Hacienda to share more about the fundraiser before the 15th.

Customers have until Dec. 15 to order any of the three items to support the cause.
