More than 300 participants raised more than $166,000 for youth mental health services at Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) York Region South Simcoe’s largest fundraising event, Mental Health in Motion.
The June 11 in Newmarket was also a celebration for the unveiling of the next generation of CMHA’s Mobile Youth Walk-In Clinic (MOBYSS).
“A decade ago, a dream was born to create an innovative mobile clinic for youth, and thanks to a community that strongly believes in mental health, MOBYSS has delivered life-saving care to more than 16,000 youth across York Region and south Simcoe since 2015,” Rebecca Shields, CEO of CMHA York Region South Simcoe, said in a news release.
“Now more than ever, youth in our community need access to safe medical and mental health care, and with the help of this incredible community, the next generation of MOBYSS is on a mission to help 20,000 more youth.”
To date, Mental Health in Motion has raised more than $166,000, including $119,361 through peer-to-peer fundraising and $47,297 through sponsorships, corporate donations, silent auctions and registration fees. Donations are being accepted until June 30 at www.cmhainmotion.ca.
