Collision leads to impaired charge

On Saturday, August 11, 2018 at approximately 11:55 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a possible impaired driver involved in a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 89, near Concession Road 5 in Adjala-Tosorontio Township.

When officers arrived, they located a passenger vehicle on the shoulder of the road with damage to the front end. Through further police investigation it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The 22-year-old male driver from Barrie was arrested and charged with

  •   Driving While Ability Impaired (Alcohol)
  •   Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

The 90-Day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and the vehicle was impounded for a period of 7 days.

The accused was released from custody and will attend a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.
