The Town of Innisfil is using some colorful creativity to promote safety on Innisfil’s roads and encourage residents to help solve the puzzle when it comes to improving our many streets, sidewalks, transit and more. Several crosswalks throughout the community have now been painted with a rainbow of linked jigsaw pieces – helping to better identify the crosswalk, while beautifying the space. They are strategically located near school zones in the following areas:

  • 20th Sideroad and Killarney Beach Rd. in Lefroy
  • 25th Sideroad and Joseph St. in Alcona
  • King St. and East John St. in Cookstown
  • Victoria St & N Gate in Stroud

“These beautiful, painted crosswalks are meant to grab everyone’s attention and get people thinking and talking about the best way to create walkable, connected communities,” said Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin. “If you have a story, an idea or if you just want to learn more, we strongly encourage everyone to visit our special webpage and share your feedback today.”

Comments gathered during this initiative will help the Town of Innisfil make future decisions about its transportation network, in particular, when it comes to making enhancements, improvements and budgetary commitments. The data will also be presented to the School Zone Traffic Safety Advisory Committee, a group made up of members of Council and volunteers from the community working to provide recommendations on matters about traffic safety in school zones and other areas.
