Two construction projects along Big Bay Point Road in Barrie's south end are causing ongoing traffic delays on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Morris Shelswell and Sons Excavating and Grading and its sub-contractors, operating on behalf of ISM Architects, have implemented intermittent lane closures, restrictions and shifts on Big Bay Point Road between Bayview Drive and Welham Road.

This work is scheduled to take place today and Wednesday.

The city says the lane closures, restrictions and shifts are needed to complete underground infrastructure works and associated road repaving works.

No detour routes are in effect.

Farther east along Big Bay Point Road, UFC Contracting, Road Readie Paving and its sub-contractors will have intermittent lane closures, restrictions and shifts between Yonge Street and Montgomery Drive.

This work is also scheduled to take place today and tomorrow.

The city says this traffic disruptions are required for underground infrastructure works and associated road repaving works.

No detours are in effect for that project, either.

Meanwhile, in Barrie's east end, the city's wastewater department and its sub-contractors will be implementing lane closure, restrictions and shifts tomorrow on Strabane Avenue between Rodney and Cook streets.

This work is scheduled to take place Wednesday, Aug. 16 tentatively from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is needed for underground sanitary lateral repair.
