It wasn’t easy, but players from Bradford District High School and Holy Trinity Catholic High School chalked one up in the Win column with a 4-1 final score over the South Simcoe Police.
For the fourth consecutive year, South Simcoe Police have faced off against players from the local high schools in a game meant to bring a win to more than just the players on the ice.
With ticket sales, raffles and donation options, the proceeds from the Copper Cup will benefit Bradford’s own Helping Hand Food Bank.
Adding to the totals raised, students who purchased a ticket or donated a non-perishable food item at their school, were able to attend the game during school hours.
The exact numbers have yet to be tallied, but chatter on the benches indicates that this is going to be another successful year for the charity game.
With the ceremonial puck drop from BWG Mayor Rob Keffer and South Simcoe Police Chief Andrew Fletcher, the game got underway with quick action.
Holy Trinity Catholic High School Goalie Yoon Lee and Bradford District High School Goalie Caleb Garbe kept the goals against count to one.
The rest of the high school players worked to put four more goals on the scoreboard, giving them the win for the 2019 Copper Cup.
With friends and family from across the world wanting to see the game, the Holy Trinity Media Crew brought their gear out to live stream the event to their YouTube channel.
