The Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library and Cultural Centre is excited to announce that digitized copies of historic Bradford and South Simcoe papers are now accessible for free online at the Library through NewspaperArchive.

The digitized papers include copies of the Bradford Chronicle, South Simcoe Times, The Bradford Witness, and other local papers from 1854 to the 1940s. These digitized papers are accessible to anyone connected to the Library Wi-Fi: from our computers or from your own personal device. The collection also includes digitized copies of newspapers from across Canada.

“This is an amazing resource that allows us to grow our body of research and better support patrons who are looking to trace family trees and learn more about historic events and people,” said David di Giovanni, Manager of Cultural Services. “Before, anyone interested would have to go through hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of microfilm reel images to find the information they were looking for. With NewspaperArchive, a search of a name or subject matter will automatically turn up all copies of what they have searched for.”

To access these papers, anyone who is connected to the BWG Library Wi-Fi can go to access.newspaperarchive.com from there, you can select ‘Location’ to narrow your search.

Anyone with questions or requiring assistance can email [email protected], or call the Library directly at 905-775-3328 x 6123 to book an appointment.
