Dogs from all over the Greater-Toronto-Area headed up to Bradford this weekend to compete in the Aqua Dogs sporting competition.
The event was held at the Bradford and District Community Centre and saw dogs of all sizes competing in long jumping, high jumping and fetching.
There are five divisions the dogs compete in: Novice, Amateur, Semi Pro, Pro, and Super Pro. Each division is based on how many feet the dogs can jump into a pool of water.
Coaches and trainers bring their dogs onto the deck and throw a toy across the pool. The dogs then jump and fetch the toy in mid-air before making a splash into the water.
Judges use a special aerial view camera which measures the exact distance of the dive.
After a day and a half of stiff competition, the dogs with the best scores competed in the finals on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
Here were the results:
Novice Division Winner:
Askem, a 15-year-old doberman sheppard mix with a jump of 13 feet 1 inch.
Amateur Divison Winner:
Eddie, a six-year-old cattle dog mix, with a jump of 12 feet 9 inches. This was his personal best.
Semi Pro Divison Winner:
Macca, a 2-year-old cattle dog mix, with a jump of 20 feet 7 inches.
Pro Division Winner:
Cooper, a 10-year-old wheaten terrier poodle, with a jump of 21 feet 1 inch.
There were no dogs competing for the Super Pro division.
