The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported eight new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths today (June 10).
There are 222 active cases in the region.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,107 cases of COVID-19 with 11,216 of those cases recovered and 246 cases ending in death.
There are 24 people from Simcoe County and one person from Muskoka District hospitalized with COVID-19, which includes one new hospitalization since yesterday's update.
The health unit has reported a total of 4,775 variant strain cases, with 148 of those still active.
To date, 361,686 Simcoe-Muskoka residents (59.8 per cent of the population) region have received their first dose of vaccination against COVID-19, which is 69.8 per cent of the region's over-18 population.
As of today, 53,322 people (8.8 per cent of the population) have also received a second dose.

Since yesterday, three cases (from Collingwood, Barrie, and Bracebridge) were removed from the health unit case list because they were transferred to another public health unit or further investigation revealed they did not meet case definition.
The new cases reported in Simcoe County and Muskoka District today include (case transmission is under investigation unless otherwise specified).
- Wasaga Beach (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old.
- Barrie (3): Three people between 18 and 34 years old. One of the cases was confirmed in November 2020, but had not yet been publicly reported.
- Springwater (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old whose case is outrbreak-related.
- Innisfil (2): Two people between 18 and 34 years old. Both cases are linked to close contact with another known case.
- Penetanguishene (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old.
