“Empower Simcoe is honoured to recognize these deserving SCDSB students and educators fostering inclusion, equity, and a sense of belonging within their respective school environments every day,” says Empower Simcoe chief executive officer Dr. Claudine Cousins. “Their commitment to inclusion in education for students with intellectual disabilities and their families makes them most deserving recipients of the 2023 Empower Simcoe Inclusion Excellence Award.”

“These students and educators are inspiring role models who are exceedingly worthy of this recognition,” states Chris Samis, SCDSB superintendent of student achievement (kindergarten to Grade 6) and special education. “They have had a profound and lasting positive impact on countless students and families within the SCDSB.”
