For many local children, Wednesday's Touch a Truck event was a dream come true.

Officials say 3,000 kids and adults enjoyed the three-hour event at the town’s Urban Operation Centre at 75 Melbourne Dr., located next door to the new fire hall

The event, sponsored by Summerlyn Dental, allowed people to get up close and explore a range of vehicles from fire trucks to Zambonis, excavators, snow plows to police cars.

Busker Scarlett Black also entertained visitors with her daring fire show, there was music from DJ Jacster, a photo corner, and free ice cream from Mister Treats, among other attractions.
