Family, friends drive by in birthday parade for 6-year-old Bradford boy (11 photos)

A Covid-Style birthday celebration!

When six-year-old Owen Pereira found out he couldn't have a traditional birthday party this year with friends and family over, he was naturally upset.

"If I can't have a party, can I at least have a parade?" he asked his parents, Mike and Kira. And of course, they couldn't say no.

Birthday parades. A trend made popular during the COVID-19 pandemic that involve a line up of cars to drive by the house of the person celebrating their birthday to honk horns, wave and give their well wishes.

So on Wednesday evening, a slew of Owen's family, friends and neighbours lined up down the street in brightly decorated vehicles with signs and balloons to give their well wishes to the birthday boy.

Owen was delighted to see his friends, some of which he hasn't seen since school ended.

"It was really nice to see everyone come out and wish Owen happy birthday," said mom, Kira.

"He really enjoyed all the beeping and seeing his friends pass by."
