You’re covered this weekend — whether in search of a warm meal, a new athletic pursuit or outdoor winter fun.

Few communities have this kind of eclectic calendar of events in late February, where you can go snow tubing, try a complementary session of yoga or get a free and delicious Sunday night supper.

Here’s what’s planned in Bradford and Innisfil on Saturday and Sunday:

Snow tubing in Cookstown

Visit the Cookstown Community Park (20 Church St.) for tubing as part of the Town of Innisfil’s Winter Weekends itinerary Saturday, Feb. 24. Snow Valley representatives will be on-site with their mini tube slide from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The activity is free. As well, the outdoor Cookstown rink will be open for skating, weather permitting. For more information, visit innisfil.ca.

Polar Bear Dip

Innisfil Community Events (ICE) Corporation’s 26th annual fundraising plunge into the icy waters of Lake Simcoe takes place at Innisfil Beach Park (676 Innisfil Beach Rd.) Feb. 24. Proceeds benefit the Innisfil Food Bank. Registration opens at 11 a.m., with plunges beginning at 1:30 p.m. For more information, email [email protected] or visit icecorp.org.

Coldest Night of the Year

Join more than 30 teams, including representatives from United Way Simcoe Muskoka and the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, at the Bradford and District Community Centre (125 Simcoe Rd.) Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. Walk and raise money for WOW Living’s Groundwork program. Groundwork is a wrap-around program for individuals 15 years of age and older who are living in poverty. The program will provide consistent support to them by incorporating training, barrier-free mental-health supports, mentorship and safe employment opportunities. There are 2.5- and five-kilometre routes available. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. Visit cnoy.org for up-to-date fundraising details and team rosters.

Free yoga at the Innisfil YMCA

As part of Winter Weekends, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka’s Innisfil location (7315 Yonge St.) is hosting free yoga for town residents ages 13 and older Sunday, Feb. 25. Grab a friend and join staff for an hour of wellness and rejuvenation between 11 a.m. and noon. Bring photo identification if you are 18-plus. For more, call 705-431-9622 or visit ymcaofsimcoemuskoka.ca.

Community meal
