Garden at Bradford care centre named in memory of Ken Tupling

Ken Tupling, Ontario's longest-serving justice of the peace, volunteer and founder of Tupling Insurance, loved to tend the garden at Bradford Valley Care Community

Ken Tupling, a longtime Bradford resident, passed away in January of 2023 at the age of 91. But his legacy will live on at Bradford Valley Care Community.

Tupling established Tupling Insurance in 1952, a business that continues to thrive to this day.

Alongside his numerous accomplishments, he served as a council member for the Town of Bradford, served as president of the Bradford Lions Club and Bradford Chapter of the Masonic Lodge — among other volunteer roles.

Notably, he held the distinguished title of being the longest-serving Justice of the Peace in Ontario.

However, amidst these achievements, he remained steadfast in his dedication to his family and the welfare of his community.

During Tupling's stay at Bradford Valley Care Community, he would often spend time in the garden. He would constantly be asking management for tools and items to help him tend to the flower and vegetable garden.

At the end of each season, he would share the fruits of his labours with other residents.

On Saturday morning, the garden was named in his memory. In a fitting tribute, attendees were asked to bring donations of tomato plants, perennial plants or herbs as donations.
