Goldenaires tiptoe through the tulips

The Goldenaires will be looking for new members - men and women - this fall.

Members of the former Newtones singing group, choristers, professional singers, and people who just love to warble — the Goldenaires choir at the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre welcomes them all.

The Goldenaires practice Tuesdays at the centre and entertain at special events, including the centre’s recent 20th anniversary celebration.

They also take their music on the road, recently performing at the Simcoe Manor long-term care facility in Beeton, and at Bradford Valley Care Community on May 22.

Under the direction of Janet Evans, and with piano accompanist Donna Gustafson, the Goldenaires performed old favourites and folk tunes, ranging from On Top of Old Smokey, to Tiptoe Through the Tulips. They had the residents singing and clapping along.

This was their final concert performance before going on summer break, but the choir returns in September and will once again be looking for members, both men and women, who love to sing.
