Ham dinner brings church goers and visitors together (7 photos)

Ham, potatoes and pie...a delicious fundraiser for Bradford Community Church

When Guelph couple, Ron and Val Webb found out they would be travelling to Bradford to watch their grandson in a hockey tournament in Bradford over the weekend, they were excited to check out the town and see what it had to offer.

That's what brought them to Bradford United Church on Saturday evening for their annual Ham and Scalloped Potato dinner event. The couple had yet to see their grandson play, and popped into the church beforehand for dinner.

"We just came early and were looking for what to do in Bradford," said Val, "And I found this and I said, I know where we're having dinner."

Prior to their meal, they had gone to check out Scanlon Creek.

"We went for a walk at the Scalon Conservation Area, which is gorgeous," said Ron.

The new minister for the church, Rev. Eiko Hosaka was also in attendance, along with her husband, Rona.

She started with the congregation in July 2019, and this was her first time attending the ham dinner.

"I like the people, I like the community," she said of Bradford.

The church puts on this event every year, followed by a roast beef dinner in March and a strawberry festival in June. All proceeds from the meal go directly toward the church.
