Daniel (Dan) and Bonnie Dietrich of Innisfil are celebrating after winning an ONTARIO 49 second prize worth $50,000 in the Jan. 10 draw. Bonnie and Dan, married for 13 years, said they have been regular lottery players since they’ve been together as a couple. Their favourite games are Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max and Ontario 49.

“We were at home when Bonnie reminded me about our tickets. I pulled out the OLG app on my phone and saw the prize amount. I couldn’t believe it and told Bonnie to come see right away,” said Dan. “We had to scan it a few more times, then happy tears came to my eyes,” added Bonnie.

The pair said they were both filled with shock and disbelief at first. “It took a while to sink in. When we got home from the store, we popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate,” said Bonnie. “This is an absolute blessing that comes at the perfect time. We’re so grateful,” added Dan.

They plan to share with their children and give back to their community. “We also plan to treat ourselves to a relaxing vacation,” said Bonnie.

Ontario 49 is $1 per play and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday. Combination Play is available in five-, seven-, eight- and nine-number selections. Tickets are sold until 10:30 p.m. Visit the Ontario 49 page on OLG.ca for more information.

The winning ticket was purchased at Jean’s Variety on Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil.
