With just 10 days to go, all nine members of Bradford West Gwillimbury council have submitted their papers to run for another term.

All candidates have until July 27 to file their paperwork.

Election day is Oct. 22, but BWG residents can vote anytime between Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. and Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. because the town has eliminated paper ballots, opting instead for phone or Internet voting.

The new term for the next council begins Dec. 1.

So far, BWG Mayor Rob Keffer is the only mayoral candidate, and Deputy Mayor James Leduc is the only one running for his same role.

They filed May 17 and May 8, respectively.

In Ward 1, in the west end of town between Sideroad 10 and Melbourne Drive, candidates include incumbent Raj Sandhu (filed May 10) and Aftab Hussain (June 29).

Ward 2 Coun. Gary Baynes (May 10) is facing no competition for his seat to represent the eastern section of town between Barrie Street and the canal.

Ward 3 Coun. Gary Lamb (June 11) also has no opponent for the section of BWG south of Line 6.

In Ward 4 — covering a strip through the centre of BWG, including Bond Head — incumbent Ron Orr (May 2) is running against Richard Turner (July 16) and Carl Hordyk (July 17).

In Ward 5, incumbent candidate Peter Ferragine (May 1) is facing Munawar Chudary (May 1) to represent the northern section between Line 8 and just north of Line 13.

Ward 6 Coun. Mark Contois (May 18), representing the area bounded by Holland Street, Langford Boulevard, Northgate Drive and Barrie Street, is the only other candidate to be running unopposed so far.

In Ward 7, the boundary for which is Melbourne Drive, Holland Street, Simcoe Road and Line 6, incumbent Peter Dykie Jr. (June 26) is running against David Minnema (June 28).
