Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is pleased to announce a $35,000 donation from the Honda Canada Foundation to support Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s critical equipment needs to mark the company’s 35 years of production in Canada.

Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) and Honda Canada Foundation (HCF) have been longtime supporters of the Stevenson Foundation. In 2017, HCF pledged $4 million to the SMHF in support of the redevelopment of the hospital.

“This is such a monumental time for south Simcoe. With the Ministry of Health’s announcement that Stevenson received Stage 2 approval, we know that a revitalized hospital is getting closer. We are proud to continue our support of the hospital’s critical equipment needs,” says Clement D’Souza, director, Honda Canada Foundation, and executive vice-president, Honda of Canada Mfg.

“Just as south Simcoe is fortunate to have a community hospital close to home, we are equally fortunate to have one of the largest private-sector employers in Simcoe County, right here in Alliston. Having the support of HCM leadership and associates is invaluable,” says Mary Thomas, CEO, SMHF. “We are very proud to have Honda as our partner.”

The Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in the SMHF’s history, supporting the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a revitalized emergency department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans. With an emergency department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year, along with a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
