It’s Easter weekend, and all across the region, family-friendly events are planned, offering opportunities to meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for Easter eggs.

Here's a look at some of the local events:

FRIDAY, APRIL 19

The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery is sold out. This year, organizers decided on a new format to make the event more enjoyable and safer for participants. Instead of the "free-for-all" of the past, which saw vehicles parked on Yonge Street and families walking along the busy county road, tickets were available on Facebook for egg hunts - free with a donation to the local food bank. And although this year's Easter Egg Hunt is full, organizers hope that families will follow along on Facebook and watch out for next year's event.

Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Just pick up an Easter Egg Hunt Map from the Upper Level Guest Experience desk, and follow the map to find chocolate goodies. Kids will also receive an Easter Tote Bag to collect their treats – as long as supplies last.

Hop into Easter with Max and Ruby, the animated “funny bunny siblings,” at Tanger Outlet Mall near Cookstown, from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring your camera or smartphone to take a photo with Max and Ruby, then kids will receive a free Easter treat.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

Easter Eggstravaganza. New Life Baptist Church, on Yonge St. in Innisfil, is holding an outdoor Easter Egg Hunt on its nine-acre property, from 10 a.m. to noon. Gather at 10 a.m., egg hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. sharp, followed by prizes, snacks and refreshments. Remember to bring a basket for the eggs, and dress for the weather.
