INNISFIL - Just in time for the long weekend, the Town of Innisfil is pleased to announce that the boat launch located at Innisfil Beach Park (676 Innisfil Beach Rd.) will be available for resident-use only, starting May 16, 2020.

Boaters eager to take advantage will need to book their spot to launch ahead of time, using a convenient new online booking system now available at www.Innisfil.ca/BoatBooking.

“We know how hard it has been for our community to not be able to hop in their boat and enjoy Lake Simcoe, so we are taking a steady, step-by-step approach to give residents something they deserve,” said Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin. “The success of reopening the Innisfil Beach Park boat launch will depend on residents continuing to respect physical distancing to keep everyone healthy and safe, and we trust that people will continue to do that.”

Residents looking to launch their boat at Innisfil Beach Park will need to keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Only Innisfil residents who have the 2019 or 2020 Resident Parking Permit*, or proof of Innisfil residency (e.g. driver’s licence, utility bill, or other piece of valid identification with Innisfil address) can use the boat launch. *Residents cannot pick up 2020 permits at the moment given the closure of Town facilities.
  • Boaters entering the launch area will be required to follow the direction of Innisfil Park Staff and respect physical distancing.
  • Boaters will need to pre-book their entry and exit spots online at www.Innisfil.ca/BoatBooking. This section also features answers to commonly asked questions and other information.
  • Residents can also book their times by calling the Town of Innisfil during normal business hours at 705-436-3710.
  • Access and use of the Innisfil Beach Park boat launch will only be between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The Town of Innisfil and South Simcoe Police Service will have additional resources assisting and monitoring Innisfil Beach Park to make sure resident boaters have a safe, happy and healthy experience.

“As this will be the first time we are opening up one of our amenities during this State of Emergency, we want to thank residents in advance for their patience,” said Dollin. “This Council is excited to be giving some water access to our residents and we are working hard to expand this as soon as possible.”

The Town of Innisfil continues to work towards re-opening other public boat launches located at 1090 Shore Acres Dr. 973 Isabella St. starting on May 22, 2020. Further information will be released closer to that date.
