Is your lawn brown? Cheer up. We have good news about corn

Also there's the Peach Festival coming up to celebrate the fresh Ontario crop. Special guest will be Elvis!

The warm, dry weather this summer poses a challenge to homeowners watching lawns crisp and turn brown, but it’s been a boon to some farmers.

The weather has contributed to one of the best crops of sweet corn in years.

Sweet corn is now available at the Bradford Farmers’ Market, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the east parking lot at the BWG Public Library.

Lakeview Gardens has bushels of corn from Kernel Simpson’s fields, just up the road in Innisfil - Peaches and Cream and White Lightning, perfect for corn roasts and backyard barbecues.

Tammy Jackson of Sweet Annabella’s has also added new treats to her line-up of incredible tarts and pies at the market. In addition to her renowned buttertarts, fruit tarts and fruit pies, she’s now selling cinnamon buns, luscious date squares and raspberry crumbles – and gearing up for the Market’s Peach Festival.

On Aug. 25, the Bradford Farmers’ Marker will host a Peach Festival, to celebrate the fresh Ontario crop. Special guest will be Elvis!
