NATASHA'S NOOK: Chill out with the Winter Reading Challenge

Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library offering Winter Reading Bingo, Read for Your Ward

There are two ways people can take part in the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library's Winter Reading Challenge.

As you read this column, I’ll be lying on a beach with a book in one hand and a piña colada in the other.

I may have mentioned this before, but I hate winter. So, I am off to escape down south for a week to soak up some sun and catch up on some much-needed R&R&R (rest, relaxation and reading).

This is the perfect time for me to catch up on my TBR (to-be-read) list and embrace the annual Winter Reading Challenge here at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library.

If you haven’t heard yet, this year we have not one but two challenges for the community to take part in.

The first is our Winter Reading Bingo. Fill in a card (or line/four corners, etc.) of reading challenges and be entered to win some cool prizes. This is open to all ages and reading levels, so come join the fun.

Our second challenge, Read for Your Ward, engages the entire community in a little friendly competition. Track your reading time to see which ward reads the most this winter. In the end, we will have a trophy for the ward with the most time recorded. The challenge runs until the end of March. Be sure to pick up a tracking sheet from the library or download one online. The sky is the limit as to how many sheets you can fill in. Good luck.

Not that I am biased or anything, but I think us Ward 1 residents are going to knock it out of the park. If you aren’t sure what ward you live in, check out the handy map from the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury here

So, come on over to the library and get cracking on those books (audiobooks and ebooks also count in these challenges).

Happy reading.
