Celebrating the season with our seniors!

'Tis the season of joy, and we are thrilled to collaborate with CONTACT Community Services to host a festive celebration for our senior community.

Join us next Friday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. for some crafting, food, singing, and fun. For free!

We will kick off the festivities with Tabitha from Tab Creates, a local artist, who will guide us in creating some customized ornaments and décor.

There will also be delightful treats for all to enjoy, along with a lively sing-a-long.

Be sure to register for this exciting event by calling Rachel at 705-435-4900 ext. 206 or by email.

In case you missed it, last month's event with CONTACT featured the incredible Lynda Sarrasin of Rhythmic by Nature, who led an engaging drumming workshop for seniors. It was a captivating session that not only taught drumming techniques but also delved into the rich history and significance of drum-making.

Our partnership with CONTACT has been a wonderful opportunity to provide exceptional programming for our older patrons, complementing our regular weekly events and activities.

It’s important for seniors to feel connected and engaged, which is why CONTACT has developed the Keeping Connected program which offers seniors’ wellness programs that run throughout South Simcoe and are funded in part by the Ontario Seniors Community Grant program and the Canadian government's New Horizons for Seniors program.

If you haven’t heard yet, the County of Simcoe is seeking public feedback in an age-friendly survey to better understand the needs of the older community.

The survey will help the county plan when it comes to creating an age-friendly strategy built around the needs of older adults.

If you are an older adult over the age of 65, please take the time to fill out the survey. We have ample copies available inside the library, or you can submit them online here

The deadline to submit is Dec. 31. Those who complete the survey will be eligible to win some exciting prizes, including gift cards to Vetta Spa, Braestone Club Ktchn Restaurant, and gift baskets.

Don’t forget, we have lots of other activities for seniors at the library, like Next Chapter Café, Knit Happens and more. Visit our website and sign up for our weekly newsletter so you can stay up to date on all our programs and events.

‘Til next week, happy reading!
