Welcome back!

It feels good to be writing here again, reconnecting with all of you as we get back into the swing of things here at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library after reopening last week.

We would like to thank the community for their unwavering patience and support as we navigate the path forward and regain our stride in delivering our regular, much-anticipated programming.

With only a few months left in 2023, there are several events and activities we have lined up that we know you will love.

Over the next two weeks, we have our children’s story times, hosted by Andréa and Michelle, back on the schedule, as well as some pop-up stories with Gail celebrating Ontario Public Library Week on Oct. 21, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

This Sunday, Oct. 15, we have our BWG Music and Poetry Circle from 2 to 4 p.m. Local artists and performers are welcome to join the fun and share their talents with the group.

Oct. 20 is a PA day and we have some fun planned for the kids in the Zima Room from 10 to 11:30 a.m., as well as a Nintendo Switch party happening at 1:30 p.m., where older kids to try out our new multiplayer game: "Everybody, 1, 2 Switch!"

Next week is our Simcoe Reads event in Angus, with our champion Jen Turner representing the award-winning novel, Scarborough. Come cheer her on as she battles it out in a friendly cover-to-cover competition of Canadian literature. For more information, or to register, visit simcoereads.ca.

It is great to welcome back our community partners to bring enriching, diverse programs and events to the library.

The Local History Association will resume their regular meetings this Saturday, with special guest speaker, Canadian Armed Forces infantry specialist and Bradford Coun. Nickolas Harper.

Mark your calendars for Oct. 26, as CONTACT Community Services returns to the Zima Room, hosting their Mega Fall Job Fair throughout the day, followed by the Bradford Women's+ Group meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Catholic Family Services Simcoe County will also be here from 3 to 6 p.m., creating some "spooktacular" bat bookmarks for the Youth Call program!

We are excited to welcome back author Jeremy John on Oct. 28. He will regale us with some ghost stories from his book, The Strange Grave of Mikey Dunbar: And other stories to make you poop your pants.

These are just some of the amazing things we have lined up for the rest of October, but you can check out our full event schedule on our event page here: calendar.google.com.

We look forward to welcoming you back into the library and seeing you all soon!

‘Til next week, happy reading!
