The BWG Library has developed a new program specifically for young adults heading off the college campus this fall called Dorm Room Ready: Life Skills.

Get ready for dorm room living at BWG Library!

Wow, can you believe it? We're already in the third weekend of July, and summer seems to be flying by! But don't fret because we still have a whole month and a half of fun left of exciting activities and fun here at the Library.

As we approach the end of this blissful season, some of you may find yourselves gearing up for a new chapter — heading back to school, resuming routines, and embarking on an adventure that may involve moving away and living independently for the very first time in a residence or dorm.

Now, let me tell you, this phase of your life will be one of the most exciting! Some of my fondest memories were forged during those amazingly fun years of living on campus. It was a time of making lifelong friends, embracing true independence, and discovering oneself.

Of course, I won't sugarcoat it — there can also be moments of trepidation. It's perfectly natural to feel a bit anxious about stepping into the unknown, not immediately knowing anyone, and taking on responsibilities like cooking, doing laundry, and handling all the other grown-up tasks we adults juggle.

That’s why we have come up with a new program specifically for young adults heading off the college campus this fall called Dorm Room Ready: Life Skills. This program aims to equip you with invaluable tips and tricks to navigate the exciting realm of independent living. From mastering the art of laundry to honing your cooking skills and even becoming a savvy budgeting whiz, we've got you covered.

The Library will be hosting these programs on Thursday, July 27, and Thursday, Aug. 10 from 2 to 3 p.m.

And guess what? It's totally free, and you just drop in — no registration required!

Why not start your independent living journey off on the right foot? Come on down to the library where we can help you prepare for your next chapter in life.

And while you’re here, why not stock up on your summer reading pile? (And read for pleasure while you still can!) We have a huge lot of Hot Summer Reads http://www.libraryaware.com/518/NewsletterIssues/LatestIssueForList/f7f678ba-7dac-4ecf-817c-bddf8b40dae5 just waiting to be devoured. Or ask one of our friendly staff for some reading suggestions.

‘Til next week, Happy reading!
