Hand-dyed and hand-spun yarns, knitting and crochet accessories, wooden yarn bowls, project bags, alpaca yarn - the list goes on and on for Barrie's first ever Fibre Spirit Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Barrie Curling Club on Essa Road.

This new one-day event will feature the creative offerings of over 55 local vendors from the Ontario fibre community, showcasing fibre and yarn, rovings, beads, accessories and embellishments, kits, patterns, books and more.

"We are so proud that Ontario has such an amazing, unique community of fibre artists, indie hand-dyers, and local yarn shops," says Elizabeth Fallone, owner of Eliza's Buttons and Yarn in Barrie and one of the organizers of Fibre Spirit. "We are really excited to connect and introduce people to the wonderful world of fibre found within our province."

This region boasts an amazing variety of fibre farmers, indie hand-dyers, fibre producers, and local yarn shops and they are all coming under one roof for the first time in this region. Fibre Spirit's vibrant marketplace will showcase new and upcoming fibre artists as well as established producers. Participants will be able to take in a fashion show at noon with creations like knit kits, sweaters, accessories, project bags, and more!

Admission is $5 in advance here, or $6 at the door.

The show will run from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Barrie Curling Club, 175 Essa Rd just off Highway 400.
