One fo the two new elementary schools currently being built in Bradford West Gwillimbury won't be ready in time for the new school year in September.

In 2021 it was announced that two new elementary schools, Harvest Hills Public School and Marshview Public School, would be built and ready to open in Bradford for the 2022/2023 school year.

The building of the schools was approved to handle the growth of Bradford with Harvest Hills Public School being built in the north end at 400 Crossland Blvd. and Marshview Public School in the south at 742 Simcoe Rd.

At the beginning of June, parents/guardians of students scheduled to attend Marshview Public School in the fall were informed that construction of the school is behind schedule and occupancy will not be obtained in time for the first day of school in September.

“A contingency plan is in place in order to ensure that the learning needs of our students are met,” said a Simcoe County District School Board representative. “Marshview Public School is being formed at two school locations. Some students will remain at Chris Hadfield Public School until construction is complete and others will attend at W.H. Day Elementary School until construction is complete. At this time, we are expecting to receive occupancy and the new school will open by November 2022.”

Harvest Hills Public School is scheduled to open on time to students on the first day of school in September.
