The Lion's Gate Banquet Centre will be transformed into a home for all things odd and strange later this month.

Jeff Manning, who is organizing the city’s inaugural Barrie Oddity Market on Sunday, May 21, says the market, which will run from 10 a.m .and 6 p.m., will feature approximately two dozen vendors, as well as a magician, live entertainment, a spoken word poet and what he called a “stunt clown."

“He steps on glass, staple-guns stuff to himself. He is coming, too, (but) won’t be doing anything too crazy as we’re trying to keep things family-friendly,” said Manning.

Vendors will lean toward the “oddity” theme, which includes everything from spooky, steampunk, vintage, peculiar, macabre, and more, he explained

“This is the first time we have organized it, and there is nothing comparable to it in the city," he said. "My girlfriend is a taxidermist and makes bone art, and is into all of that kind of thing.

"We didn’t have a lot of success in the traditional markets, because it is a bit different, and you need the right audience for it, but we found we did really well in the 400 Market,” Manning added.

Tickets are available at the door.

The Lion's Gate Banquet Centre is located at 386 Blake St.
