Bradford’s RBC is all about giving back to the community. No matter how big, or how small, the staff are always looking for ways to help out those in need.

“We try to plan something at least once a month,” says employee, Francine Grenon.

This month, the branch has decided to help collect winter wear for the Coats For Kids campaign run out of the basement at St. Mary’s A Hall in Bradford.

At the front of the bank, a box is set up with a list of items needed, including winter coats, hats, mittens, scarves, socks and winter boots. So far, the box has a few coats and some nicely knitted hats and mittens hanging just outside of it.

Items can be brand new or gently used.

Every year, the campaign kicks off shortly after Thanksgiving, but this year started in early November due to a mild October. Donations are depleting and the campaign is reaching out to the community for their support,  which is why Grenon and RBC Branch Manager, Wayne Brakeboer decided to set up their "to get the word out in our community to assist this amazing program.”

Items most needed are: waterproof mitts and gloves for kids, men’s gloves, snowsuits, larger-sized coats for teens and young adults, and winter boots sizes 4 and up.

“A lot of people think it’s just for little kids, but I am really stressing out about teens and young adults,” said Grenon.

Not only is theRBC Bradford Branch participating in the coat drive, but they will also be assisting the Helping Hand Food Bank on Dec. 19, distributing Christmas hampers to families in need, as well as contributing $1,000 to the program.

Winter wear donations for the coat drive can be dropped off at the RBC Branch at 539 Holland St. West during regular business hours or at the Coats for Kids depot on Thursdays, at 31 Fredrick St. from 6 to 8 p.m., or contact the Campaign Coordinator Catherine Snow at [email protected].
