The missing kayaker has been located

INNISFIL - South Simcoe Police Service officers are searching for a missing kayaker on Lake Simcoe.

On Sunday, May 24, 2020 around 6:50 p.m., police were called regarding a 26-year-old Innisfil man that has not been heard from since leaving home around 2:30-3 p.m. to kayak on Lake Simcoe. The man's vehicle was found on Innisfil Beach Road near Lakelands Avenue.

Working with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton, officers from the South Simcoe Police Service and York Regional Police Marine Units are conducting an extensive search in a bid to find the missing man or his kayak.

His name is not being released at this time.

He is described as white, about 5'10," blonde hair, slim build, and was wearing black pants and a grey muscle shirt. He was in a blue kayak with black paddles.

We are appealing to residents in the area to check the shoreline for any sign of the missing man, his kayak or paddles. Anyone with information is asked to South Simcoe Police Service at 705-436-2141 or 905-775-3311.
