Residents of The Elden pose for 2021 ‘Film Noir’ calendar (7 photos)

The 2021 calendars are available for purchase with a portion of the sales going toward the Children's Oncology Ward at Southlake Hospital

There are only a few weeks left in 2020, and the residents at The Elden of Bradford can't wait to ring in the new year with their 2021 'Film Noir' themed calendar.

Earlier this year the recreation department, led by Chad Axelrod, had areas of the retirement residence transformed into a 'Film Noir' set with residents working together with Photographer Vincenzo Sestitio and Costume Designer Gwyneth Sestito to pose for the calendar photoshoot.

"The residents were all for it! They really got into character and added their own spin to it. Lots of laughs could be heard during the shoot," said Sales and Marketing Manager for The Elden Jaime Robertston.

The calendar featured both longtime and new residents, including one who had just moved in three weeks prior to the shoot.

"We almost wish there were more months in a year, there were so many amazing shots to choose from," said Robertson.

Robertson says the recreation department has been working overtime throughout the pandemic. In addition to running their socially distanced group activities and 1-1 activity carts, they have been scheduling visits in their gardening room with hundreds of families and friends while ensuring all items being dropped off are properly sanitized and delivered with care.

"The calendar photoshoot is just another way they got creative and had a really good time too!" said Robertson.

The calendars are available for purchase for $20 and can be ordered by contacting at 905-775-1700 x704 or by emailing [email protected]. Five dollars from the sale of each calendar will be donated to the Children’s Oncology Ward at Southlake Hospital. This was the charity of choice by the residents' council.
