NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF BRADFORD WEST GWILLIMBURY
*************************
After several months of closures for Phase 1 of construction, Line 6 (between Sideroad 10 and West Park Avenue) will be reopened by 4 p.m. on May 26 — several weeks ahead of schedule.

This first phase of the Southwest Arterial Roads (SWAR) project included the reconstruction of a portion of Sideroad 10 (between Line 5 and 6), the construction of a new roundabout on Sideroad 10 and Line 6, and the realignment of Line 6 to meet the new roundabout. Our contractor is nearing the end of Phase 1 as they complete gravel placement, sidewalk construction, roadway paving, line painting, and boulevard grading.

“Council is thrilled to see this important west-end infrastructure project take shape. We understand the inconvenience this has caused neighbouring residents and appreciate your patience as we forge ahead to Phase 2 of the project. Once completed, these improvements along Sideroad 10 and Line 5 will ensure a throughway for traffic travelling south of Holland Street, improve safety at the Line 6 intersection, and provide pedestrian access.” — Mayor James Leduc

Phase 2 is slated to begin on June 5, and will require the closure of Sideroad 10 (between Line 5 and Line 6) through to Aug. 4. Phase 2 of the SWAR project will include the construction of a new curve connecting Sideroad 10 and Line 5 as well as a new access to Line 5 from the new southwest arterial road along with the reconstruction of Line 5 from Coffey Road to Sideroad 10.

There will be an additional road closure later this summer as part of Phase 3 (Sideroad 10 from Line 6 to Holland Street) to primarily accommodate the installation of new road crossing culverts for Fraser Creek, but to also expedite the road reconstruction.
