The Easter long weekend brings with it several family-themed activities.

Is everyone ready for the Easter Bunny’s arrival?

It’s a fairly laid back long weekend for the South Simcoe event calendar. But if you’re looking to take a break from gorging on chocolate, candy and marshmallow chicks, there are a couple of things to do that will satisfy your appetite for fun.

Here’s what’s happening in Bradford and Innisfil on Saturday and Sunday:

Parent and child shinny

Kids nine years old and younger and their parents or guardians are invited to an informal game of hockey at the BWG Leisure Centre (471 West Park Ave.) on Saturday, March 30, starting at 7:15 a.m. You must wear skates or ride a sledge to be allowed on the ice surface. The program ratio is one parent to a maximum of five children. Slap shots are not permitted. More details, including a list of rates, can be found at calendar.townofbwg.com.

Drop-in family storytime

The Innisfil ideaLAB and Library’s Lakeshore branch (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.) will host drop-in storytime March 30, featuring 30 minutes of reading, rhyming, talking, playing and singing. Get to know other families in your community while nurturing your child's love of books and reading. The event runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and no registration is required. It is considered suitable for kids ages zero to six years.

Final day for Easter Bunny photos at Tanger

Stop by Tanger Outlets Cookstown until March 30 to capture a special spring moment with the Easter Bunny. A professional photographer will be on hand at the set, where a variety of photo packages will be available for purchase. The set is located near Entrance 2. Want to reserve a spot? Book here.

English conversation circle

If you’ve ever wanted to take the step of improving your language skills in a fun and supportive environment, drop by Innisfil's Lakeshore library on March 30 from 1 to 2 p.m. Led by YMCA newcomer services personnel, the free circle provides a welcoming and inclusive space for learners of all levels. No registration is required, just stop in.

Public skating hits the ice Bradford

The BWG Leisure Centre will host all-ages public skating on March 30 and 31. Everyone who participates in this leisure program should consider wearing a helmet and gloves while on the ice. Children nine years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, while food, drinks, skating aids, sticks, pucks, balls, sleds, chairs and strollers are not permitted. The Saturday session starts at 2:15 p.m.; Sunday skating begins at 12:15 p.m. More details can be found at calendar.townofbwg.com.

Vegan egg hunt

Search for plant-based treats and goodies at Wishing Well Sanctuary (2710 Line 10) in Bradford March 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. While there, you can also meet the Easter Bunny and tour the sanctuary. Tickets are $25 per child — though that includes one free adult admission — and they must be purchased in advance. More details can be found on the hunt’s Eventbrite page.
