'The best steaks in town' at Trinity Anglican (7 photos)

Annual event offers steaks grilled to order, and home-made desserts.

Johnathan Logan was the grillmaster at Trinity Anglican Church on Friday, cooking over 120 steaks on an outdoor grill, each one to order.

He not only cooked the steaks, he hand-cut them; Logan works for Macgregors Meats.

There was a small army of volunteers at the church, for the annual Steak Barbecue - taking the tickets and asking if diners liked their steaks rare, medium or well-done; ferrying the orders to the grill and bringing back the perfectly-cooked steaks; serving up the sides, of corn on the cob, baked potato with sour cream, and coleslaw.

And if that wasn’t enough for only $20, there was a choice of home-made desserts and pies.

“Last year, we sold out,” said Fred Longthorne, helping out at the grill. Every year the church purchases 130 steaks, for the event.

“I think we’re going to be around 120,” Longthorne said – but with walk-ins and guests, there was the chance of selling out again.

The weather was windy, but it looked like the storms would hold off – at least until all of the steaks were off the grill.
