Tons of flavours offered at Bradford’s Buttertart Festival (18 photos)

The rain stayed away Saturday morning for the annual Buttertart Festival at the Bradford Farmers' Market

The Bradford Farmers’ Market held its annual Buttertart Festival this weekend, drawing large crowds and long lines.

The rain held off and vendors came with their best and most creative versions of the sweet treat.

Tammy Jackson of Sweet Annabella’s brought almost 2,000 of her tarts, in 12 different flavours, including: mango, pecan, raisin, pumpkin, Bailey’s and coffee, peanut butter, chocolate-peanut butter, apricot brandy, raspberry lemonade, Oh Henry, pecan and crown royal.

Lakeview Gardens made plan, raisin, pecan and maple cream liqueur tarts, and special chocolate habanero flavoured ones which were most popular.

The Polish Chef, Chef Ryszard, didn’t disappoint with his unique Dr. Pepper and chocolate flavoured tarts. He brought around 480 tarts in total, along with his breads and baked goods.

Korean BBQ had their own vegan buttertarts, made without lard and The Northside Catering had their own tarts made of pecan, raisin, cranberry and cherry flavour.

In addition to the buttertarts, there were artisan and craft vendors selling a variety of items including fall wreaths, hair bows, and jewellery.

Market favourite, Russ Clayton was in attendance providing musical entertainment for the kids.

The Bradford Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday in front of the BWG Library and Cultural Centre from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. until Thanksgiving, and then moves indoors to the Zima Room until Dec. 21.
